DD Day Support Service

Respite Care Service

Our highly trained direct support professionals support our individuals in the following Community Guide service:

  • Assist our individual in connecting to the identified, non-Medicaid funded community resources
  • Help identify and request resources to cover expenses
  • Provide advocacy and informal counseling that helps guide our individuals in problem solving and decision making
  • Assist in arranging for and supporting the details of the move

CPR/AED/First AID Certification

License Instructor

Our Certified professional rescuers (CPR) are responsible for teaching individuals how to perform CPR and other life-saving techniques in the following areas:

  • Ensuring students are instructed in all aspects of CPR, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
  • Conducting in-service training sessions for current staff members to ensure they are up to date on all procedures
  • Preparing lesson plans, class schedules, and materials needed for classes
  • Demonstrating proper techniques and making sure students practice until they can perform them correctly
  • Teaching CPR techniques to individuals or groups of students, followed by practical application of skills in a simulated setting
  • Conducting mock disaster drills to test readiness and response capability
  • Teaching first aid techniques including how to treat wounds, broken bones, and other common injuries
  • Assisting students with applying for their certification cards through the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or another certifying body.

TOVA (Therapeutic Options Of VA) Certification

License Instructor

Therapeutic Options is a comprehensive approach to reducing violence and the use of restraint and seclusion in behavioral health care, health care, habilitation, and education settings.

Tova Training Requirements:

  • Ensuring students are instructed in all aspects of TOVA, including using people-first language.
  • Providing the tools to keep people safe while maintaining their commitment to positive approaches in supporting individuals whose behavior sometimes poses danger to themselves or others.
  • Building violence-free environments and reduce their reliance on physical intervention in preventing and managing aggression.
  • Conducting in-service training sessions for current staff members to ensure they are up to date on all procedures
  • Preparing lesson plans, class schedules, and materials needed for classes
  • Demonstrating proper techniques and making sure students practice until they can perform them correctly
  • Teaching techniques to individuals or groups of students, followed by practical application of skills in a simulated setting.
